Silvana Stamm

Ms. Sil is the founder and director at Our Place to Grow. She has been a teacher and child care director since 2000, and opened Our Place to Grow in 2011.

Pleased to meet you… my name is Silvana Stamm. I am a proud mother of two boys – 18 and 14 years of age. Working as a child care director and teacher for over 20 years, I have been blessed to work with and assist many children and their families from birth to early teens.

Looking back, it all makes sense!

After obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1991, the forces at work pulled my career into the banking industry. There, I gained an extensive amount of experience dealing with a wide range of financial information… but perhaps not a lot of personal daily fulfillment.

After the birth of my second son, Dominic, I was offered the wonderful opportunity to teach at the YWCA of Pottstown,  where my oldest son had been attending. That offer changed my life! I always knew that I wanted to spend my life working with children, and this position solidified for me that this was the career I belonged in. Soon after taking the position, I was offered the Director’s position, as well as a position as a Parent & Child Coordinator under the direction of an adult literacy program.

I knew then – and am reminded every day – how fortunate I am to have found my mission in life. Through the years, I’ve worked in several different child care centers. I gained so much experience and insight from each center. I loved each of my positions and all of the children who I’ve had the pleasure of sharing my days with. It’s so fulfilling to know that I am helping to shape the future of the children entrusted to my care!

As much as I enjoyed the positions that I’ve held, I knew there was more that I could do. I’d seen how these child care centers all provided safe environments, plenty of scheduled activities, planned educational curricula. I personally felt that in some cases, though, there was a lack of focus on the emotional and social skills of children… at such a critical age where these skills should be paramount. I’d found my calling: to create a child care center that could balance the educational benefits of daycare/preschool with the emotional and social development so important at these young ages.

In 2011, I answered that calling. If not me, then who? I had been the Director of the Freedom Valley YMCA’s Y-Care program at French Creek Elementary school. I loved the area, and set out to find the perfect place in the area to make my dream come true.  I found space to rent at the Pughtown Baptist Church in Spring City, hung my shingle, and welcomed the first classes at Our Place to Grow. What an incredible accomplishment!

In 2012, the stars aligned for me once again. I liked our location in Spring City, but when I envisioned my perfect daycare center, it would be located in a warm, loving homey house with  a natural outdoor play area… a space that could be all about the children. One day, I just happened to find it. A perfect little house, with an even more perfect play area in the back yard, tucked away in the woods of Warwick/South Coventry Township, calling out my name. One month later, Our Place to Grow moved in and we couldn’t be happier!

My spare time (ha ha… what’s that?) is spent with my family and pets. Nick is a Daniel Boone 2017 Graduate on the path of video editing.  Dom is entering his first year at Daniel Boone High School and an active participant in the JROTC program.  I recently became interested in kayaking.   Love it!

Ms. Stephanie

Your kids will look forward to being dropped at our child care facility every morning.

Hi! My name is Ms. Stephanie, I started at Our Place To Grow in May 2019! I am so excited to be back in a

classroom and with such a great group of caregivers and educators!

I have three boys, ages 21, 7 and 4. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Cabrini College in Early Childhood

and Elementary Education and have a Director’s Credential from Northampton Community College. I have

been caring for children for over 20 years in every capacity, from an in-home Nanny, Assistant Teacher, Teacher to Educational Director and Director of Operations.

I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was about 7 years old, I had a fabulous Student Teacher, and I wanted to be just like her.  My first solo teaching job was in a Kindergarten class, and I loved every minute of it!  My favorite thing to watch over time with my students is the "Ahah!" moment.  Watching it all come together and seeing how proud they are of themselves, this is the reason I show up everyday!  (Also for the free hugs!)

I had worked in large franchised schools for years under different owners, but nothing compares to Our Place To Grow.  It is a home away from home, there is a closeness with the staff and families that you can not find just anywhere.  My children love coming here, I love coming here, and I think you will too!
